Volume 14

Greetings from Heavens Harvest Farm

It was a confirmation this past week of what we already knew and  experienced, when our Governor declared a state of emergency for Massachusetts vegetable farmers.  Although the fall apple crop looks to be excellent, along with some late season corn, fellow farmers especially organic growers stand to lose millions this year.

We would respectfully ask all of you who have not yet considered the fall share to do so as a way to continue the most necessary partnership with local, sustainable and organic agriculture.

We are extremely grateful for all of our subscribers. Let us answer several requests for information thru this forum as a way to answer all.

First, the list for fall vegetables can be found as part of the July 27th newsletter.  The sign-up sheet is to be found on the site at the home page by clicking on the right side of the page where it says news items.  When the next page loads, click on the left side of the page where it speaks about the fall shares on either blue highlighted word.  They are the words here or CSAFORM.

Several members have expressed concern over the lettuce turning too quickly.  We are at fault because it was packaged in a non-breathable plastic bag and then the packer twisted the bag shut.  The lettuce was only 1 day old – our packing caused the problem.  Thanks to all who have emailed their concerns and positive comments.

Please pass the information regarding our fall shares to your influence circles.  We are in need of another 100 members, please help.

Also, remember to check the recipe sections each week for great nutritional, mouth-watering ways to incorporate the farms bounty into dishes your whole family will love.

 Blessings

-Ashley & Ethel
