Volume 7

To all our faithful members,

We have been so blessed with the growing weather since mid-August.  It has allowed us to produce absolutely beautiful fall veggies noticeably Chinese cabbage, bok choi, tat soi, mizuna, broccoli, radishes, hakurei turnips (small white globes) lettuces, of many varieties and herbs. We have also procured great organic carrots, onions, potatoes, parsnips, turnips, rutabaga, winter squashes, spinach, cabbage-green and red, beets, kale, collards, arugula, chards and…

We have one week left of our 1st ever fall share.  Thank you for your partnership…we have heard from a number of you who were not sure about signing up for the fall but have been glad you did.  Thank you!

Some words about the winter share.

Costs are higher proportionally based on 2 factors

Transportation charges to us for East Coast certified organic produce.

Cost of produce in general has gone up and means farmers may have a shot at NOT going out of business.

We have no control over costs during the winter/spring as we do not provide produce for the shares because it is Winter outside. In order to get high quality organic vegetables and fruit from highly reputable farms, a certain higher cost factor will always apply.

We purposefully keep our Summer/Fall share costs lower than we could (as we deliver and provide the produce) so we can bless our members to be able to afford to purchase the Winter/Spring shares.

Regarding single shares – We were under priced for the Summer/Fall season and should have charged $20 for the single farm share! We didn’t on purpose in order to encourage individuals to participate. For the Winter/Spring shares we have fixed costs that raise the share price which are seasonal and should be considered as normal for the time of the year.

Costs for winter shares are offered for all of our members to participate. If you need help with your share costs, Please call the farm for help.  We are willing to provide financial assistance to those in need as others have helped us many times in the past.
