*Read About our Fall Shares!!!

From the Jungles of the South Pacific (or Heavens Harvest Farm)

I have been translated back 53 years in time to the island of Guam in the South Pacific.  My father was in charge of the Naval exchange on the island only some 10 years after WWII.  I was 3-5 years of age while we were there and have some extremely vivid memories etched deep into my soul.  One of the most prominent is the heavy torrential down-pours that happened almost every late afternoon for an hour or so.  When the rains stopped, a jeep spraying DDT traveled around the living areas to suppress the mosquito populations.  These last few weeks have brought back the machine gun like pounding rain that I remember listening to inside the metal Quonset Hut style home that we lived in for the 1st year plus on Guam.  The other significant memory is one of picking buckets of snails from our yard in order for my father to mow the lawn.  The slugs in our fields remind me of those snails of long ago.  Please, no more heavy, pounding, flooding rain.

We picked some more (6 to be exact) ripe tomatoes – soon for everyone.

Please be aware that some of you will receive yellow Hungarian Hot Peppers. They are moderately hot and very good for frying or stuffing.
