Happy
Holidays to one and all!
We are so grateful for your patronage that enabled Heavens Harvest Farm to have
a successful 2008 CSA.
We grew from 295 members to 597 from 2007 to 2008. Much of that phenomenal
growth stemmed from the addition of new sites in Harvard,
2009 CSA Program Highlights
During these economic hard-times we at Heavens Harvest Farm recognize the
difficulty facing our members and the public at large, with how to best budget
their hard-earned income for food purchases. We would like to remind
everyone that a healthy body enables one to do better during times of stress
and under difficult circumstances. Our pledge remains rock-solid - the
production of sustainable, local and certified organic vegetables and fruit and
also IPM managed fruit from local established family owned orchards. Our
increasing variety needs and continued quest for optimum quality regarding all
of our products has brought us to the place of becoming a significant
collaborative venture. We will be utilizing the best of a number of area
certified organic farms that traditionally are more wholesale oriented.
We have shared produce with many of them and bought for our CSA at some point
from all of them. As we see it, no one farm can do everything regarding
variety, availability and price effectiveness, especially for 500 plus
clients. So that we can serve everyone most effectively, we will continue
to buy and sell collaboratively with the following farms:
All along the Connecticut River in Western Ma - Organic Certified
Riverland Farm - all as needed
Czajowski Farm - corn, winter squash
Plainville Farm - green & yellow beans
Full Bloom Market Garden - all greens, cukes, peppers, tomatoes, early
zucchini/yellow squash
Enterprise Farm - all as needed
Warner Farms - corn, cukes, peppers
You can be assured that with our refrigerated truck and cooler that all
products will be picked, packed and delivered no later than 3 days. Most
will be delivered within 2 days, a far cry from the 7-10 days for most retail
store. Heavens Harvest Farm will continue to grow 70-%80% of what you
receive each week on average. What is most important still regards the
certified organc status of 95% of your weekly delivery.
Therefore, as a way to thank our existing clients and also to attract new
members and sites, we will not be raising our
1/2 share price and will only raise our full share fee $25. Most
communities will then reflect a price structure of $575 for
a full share and $375 for a half share.
2009 CSA past member incentive
Any 2008 CSA member that pays in full by January 15th 2009 will receive a 5%
discount off of their share price which will equal $30 savings on the full
share = $545 and $20 = $355 for the half share. (Results in a net savings
over last years price)
All other returning members are asked to pay in full by
This also allows us to market new location areas after we have cared for and
taken care of the needs of our returning loyal members.
We anticipate a jump up to 1000 members
this year even in these hard times. We will help anyone who seriously
desires to eat better and care for themselves and their family by investing in
a local, family owned and operated business. Any inquiries for financial help
should be directed to the farm.
We will deliver 1/2 and full shares in recycled plastic totes similar to the
ones used for curbside use. This will allow us to have many years of
usage and allow for sanitizing as necessary each members container.
Storage for site coordinators will be significantly easier as these are easily
stacked inside of each other. We will also provide each member a recycled
bag (like an LLBean tote) to use in transportation of their vegetables and
fruit from pick-up site to their home.
As always, may the Lord bless each and everyone of you. We look forward to serving you during
the 2009 season.
*Winter Shares are available as well as organic citrus fruit at a price you
